Solana Overtakes BNB - SOL Eyes $250 as Ecosystem Activity Surges
Solana has delivered one of the strongest performances among major layer-1 blockchains in July 2026, rising 35% month-to-date and flipping BNB Chain in both total value locked (TVL) and daily active addresses. The move has brought SOL within striking distance of the key $250 resistance level.
Why Solana Is Outperforming
Several factors are converging. The Solana ecosystem's DEX volume hit $18 billion in a single week - a new all-time high - driven by meme coin trading and a surge in new DeFi protocols launching on the network. Transaction fees, despite Solana's reputation for low costs, are rising modestly, indicating genuine demand pressure on blockspace.
Additionally, Firedancer - the second validator client developed by Jump Crypto - is now live on mainnet, significantly reducing the risk of network outages that have historically been Solana's main reputational weakness.
On-Chain Metrics
- Daily active addresses: 4.2 million (new record)
- DEX volume 7-day: $18.3 billion
- TVL: $12.4 billion (up from $8.1 billion in May)
- Stablecoin supply on Solana: $9.8 billion (growing)
Technical Levels
SOL is approaching the $250 level which capped rallies in November 2024 and January 2026. A clean break above $255 on weekly close targets $290-$300. Support on pullbacks is at $220-$225. Given the strong momentum, dips are likely to be shallow and bought quickly.
